42nd Avenue Business Community
Located halfway between MLK and
82nd Avenue in the heart of
Northeast Portland, 42nd Avenue is
the vibrant crossroads connection
between Concordia, Beaumont-
Wilshire, and Cully neighborhoods.
Once covered by fir trees, 42nd
Avenue was logged and cleared for
dairy farms and fruit orchards and
became Portland’s first suburb in
the early 1900’s. One hundred
years later, local residents and
business owners are building on the
rich history of 42nd Avenue and
recreating a vital, beautiful, safe,
and livable main street that reflects
the potpourri of neighborhoods
surrounding it.
A small, eclectic, and involved group of locally owned businesses and services include Delphina’s Bakery and Café, Rose’s Ice Cream Parlor, Rocket Pizza, The Spare Room Restaurant, and Caribbean Spice; trustworthy local auto repair at Automotive Marine Services; Wilshire Dental; fashion apparel at Popina’s Swim and Sportswear and Curvy Girls Clothing; Me Rae’s Hair Salon, Greb’s Bathroom and Kitchen Design, US Bank, and Witham & Dickey Printing.
